Tompkins Wake new naming rights sponsor for Rotorua Business Awards

Tompkins Wake is thrilled to be the new naming rights sponsor for the Rotorua Business Awards, which celebrate innovation, growth and creativity in the region’s business sector.
Tompkins Wake’s four-year sponsorship extends beyond naming rights; the firm will partner with Chamber to deliver services and benefits to the Rotorua business community, and has a crucial role to play in terms of its contribution to the awards judging process.
Rotorua-based Partner Andrew Orme has been involved as a judge for four years – for three as a judge and then last year as convenor of judges. He will again be convenor of judges this year and other Tompkins Wake staff look set to help with judging as well.
“It’s incredibly rewarding being part of the judging process,” Andrew said.
“The feedback we get from people during and after judging is that they really appreciate the opportunity to benchmark themselves against their peers and to glean expert advice on how they can continue to grow and prosper. It’s a great feeling to be a part of that …to help our Bay of Plenty business community to flourish.”
The firm itself is also flourishing and is currently recruiting for more staff to keep up with client demand at both its Rotorua and Tauranga offices.
“While Rotorua has had more than its fair share of challenges in light of Covid-19, there is huge resilience and a sense of optimism about the future. We’re really proud to be supporting the Rotorua business community to be building back stronger helping drive Rotorua’s recovery,” said Tompkins Wake Chief Executive Jon Calder.
“We very much see ourselves as being part of the Bay of Plenty business community. Our history in Rotorua dates back to 1898 and we recognise that we have an important role to play in terms of contributing to building stronger communities and a more prosperous New Zealand.
“Our ever-expanding footprint in the Golden Triangle means we’re in an incredibly strong position as the law firm at the centre of New Zealand’s economic and commercial heartland. We strive to make a tangible and positive difference to the communities we serve and to New Zealand through our work and the outcomes we generate.”
The Tompkins Wake Rotorua Business Awards launch will take place at a Business After 5 event hosted by Tompkins Wake on May 4 after which nominations will be open. Winners will be announced at a black-tie event later in October, which has been a highlight of the business calendar for more than 20 years.
Rotorua Business Chamber Chief Executive Bryce Heard said: “We are delighted to have such a respected and reputable partner to help us with this important event. Tompkins Wake is a strong and growing presence and reputation in the region. The new partnership goes well beyond a simple cash contribution, into providing a joint service to the Rotorua Business community of true international standards”.
