Tompkins Wake has been accepted as the New Zealand member of the elite global law network Multilaw following the firm’s merger with Lowndes earlier in September 2020.
Membership of the 100-country network with more than 10,000 lawyers provides Tompkins Wake clients' access to expert international legal advice and support, and a consistent and trusted service for New Zealand companies operating globally, said Tompkins Wake chief executive Jon Calder.
“As business adapts and responds to the challenge of COVID-19, having a trusted network of partner law firms globally is critical in the support and service we provide our clients,” Calder said.
“New Zealand's success globally has been built on relationships and connections. We are fortunate to be able to build on the relationships established by Mark Lowndes with partner law firms around the world with proven expertise and jurisdictional knowledge to support our clients.”
Leading law firm guide Chambers Global, which annually rates the quality and strengths of the world's business law firms, lists Multilaw as an elite legal network.
Recognised as one of New Zealand’s leading law firms, Tompkins Wake now has more than 130 staff across its four offices, with clients in more than 50 countries across the globe. Through its membership of Multilaw Tompkins Wake further extends its reach, assisting and managing cross-border transactions and advice for its clients.
Multilaw is a leading global network of independent law firms. It was founded in 1990 on the premise that an alliance of carefully selected independent firms working together worldwide offered the most effective way of fulfilling clients' international needs.
Mark Lowndes completed a two-year term as the chairman of Multilaw in 2013.
“Multilaw member firms are ranked in more than 132 practice categories by leading guides The Legal 500 and Chambers & Partners. We’re incredibly proud to see Tompkins Wake join this elite group of global law firms.”
